Finally, Google officially launched the final version of Android 13 to the public. The Google Pixel will be the first Android smartphone to experience the sensation of the final version of Android 13. Non-Pixel Android smartphone users will have to wait for the end of this year to get an OS update quota.

The first Android phone that can taste the new operating system (OS) is the Google Pixel. There are a number of interesting updates from this latest generation of Android OS. Some were announced at the Google I/O event on May 11, 2022, and the rest were revealed from the release of Android 13 beta version in July 2022.

The latest features of the final version of Android 13?

Display Design

Android 13 offers a lot of display customization, instant language settings, and enhanced privacy controls. Material Customization You UI allows you to change the theme and color of the application to match the color tone of the wallpaper used. Android 13 lets you use different languages in different apps so you can set them right in Settings.

Android 13 also brings an update to the Bed Time Mode feature. Not only dark notification panel, but colorful wallpapers can be darkened. The dark level of the wallpaper can be adjusted to completely black.

Users can also move files such as images more easily between applications. Such as dragging photos from the gallery to email, making multitasking easier. This does not only apply to images, but also videos, links, to text.

Security

In terms of security, users do not need to give access to the entire gallery to the application when the application asks for permission. Users can select specific photos or videos that the app can 'see'.

Users can also choose to receive certain notifications, without having to go to the settings of each application. Android 13 devices will display the requested notification types. You can turn on or off one by one according to your choice.

Google Pixel 7 Pro

Google will embed its latest Android operating system (OS) Android 13 into the flagship Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. This marks the two smartphones as the world's first Android 13 flagship phones to receive FCC certification.

FCC certification ensures the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro support 5G networks, dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, and NFC. The Pixel 7's design is similar to the Pixel 6 series and has a punch-hole in the center and a long strip camera module on the back.

The Google Pixel 7 will sport a 6.3-inch OLED display and the Pixel 7 Pro will sport a 6.7-inch OLED display. The two cellphones carry a high refresh rate of 120Hz, as quoted by Giz China.

The flagship Pixel 7 Series carries a second-generation Tensor chip that offers better and faster performance than its predecessor. The cellphone carries 12GB of RAM and a choice of 128GB and 256GB of storage memory. The current Pixel 7 Pro comes with a 5,000 mAh battery which provides a long battery life. The device offers support for 23W fast charging.

Advantages of Android 13

The Android 13 operating system (OS) update is predicted to further enhance a faster and smoother gaming experience. Phone Arena revealed that Google plans to add more game-oriented improvements with Android 13.

One of the main ones is the setGameState method which when implemented will allow the game to notify the phone of its current state. By knowing the current state of the game, the phone will be able to decide whether the game can be interrupted or not.

But even more interestingly, thanks to the setGameState method, the game can also communicate information about the loading process. Many manufacturers have their own way of allocating more power to the phone's chips to improve gaming performance and loading times.

The previous generation Android 12 brought several features, such as the option for game developers to apply different game performance modes such as high refresh rate, power efficiency, or high quality.

Games like "Asphalt 9" and "Genshin Impact" are some that use this option. What's more, Android 12 allows phone manufacturers to add a Game Dashboard, which is a pop-up menu you may have seen in some mobile gaming modes. It's a quick way to toggle simple settings on and off that users might want to access while gaming.

Multimedia and multitasking

After the UI, and security, let's get into multimedia and multitasking support. Users can also move files such as images more easily between applications. Such as dragging photos from the gallery to email, making multitasking easier. This does not only apply to images, but also videos, links, to text.

Android 13 supports Spatial Audio. If the user uses headphones that have a head tracking feature, the audio source will sound as if it has shifted, giving a 3D sensation. In addition, Android 13 also adopts Bluetooth Low Energy which allows audio transmission without delay.

For tablets, there will be a desktop-style taskbar. Through this taskbar, users are not only easy to switch applications, but also just drag to open two applications on a split screen. Android 13 is already able to distinguish between stylus touch and palm, minimizing wrong strokes.

“Android 13 is packed with these and many other features, such as HDR video support in third-party camera apps, an updated media output switcher, braille display for Talkback, and more,” Google wrote in a blog post. “And it goes beyond the phone to give you a suite of connected experiences across your other devices like your tablet and laptop.”
